Champions of Made in Italy

From 4 to 6 February 2026, Fruit Logistica confirmed Italy’s role in the fruit and vegetable sector: 380 companies out of 2,458 exhibitors, the highest participation. The institutional visit highlighted Made in Italy and a key market such as Germany, with exports growing and €1.7 billion in turnover in the first 10 months of 2025.

Gianduiotto was born in Turin in the 19th century, when cocoa shortages led to combining it with Piedmont hazelnuts, creating gianduia and the famous chocolate first presented at Turin’s Carnival in 1865. With its ingot-like shape and simple recipe, it became a symbol of Turin and Piedmont’s confectionery tradition, later spreading more widely. Today it is a Traditional Agri-food Product of Piedmont and an icon tied to place, craftsmanship, and sharing.

Made in Italy robotics is advancing and proving its leadership in Europe and worldwide, standing out as one of the strongest sectors globally. The latest invention is a humanoid robot that integrates artificial intelligence and advanced computing systems, enabling it to adapt its behaviour in real time and work alongside humans in fields such as manufacturing and logistics.

In Milan, the third National Export Conference took place, recording triple the attendance compared with 2024 and more than 2,000 participating companies. The event focused on networking between businesses and institutions, with 5,000 contact requests and 1,600 facilitated meetings. Progress under the Export Plan 2025 was also presented, involving 7,500 companies and nearly 5,000 B2B meetings.

Italian industrial research is turning braking systems into intelligent technology that integrates mechanical components, software and artificial intelligence. Braking becomes an active element of the vehicle, capable of adapting in real time to driving conditions. The result is a more stable, precise and continuously evolving braking experience that enhances safety, control and overall driving quality.

Italy is strengthening its leadership in electric mobility thanks to a rapidly expanding network: over 64,000 public charging points installed and an in-use fleet nearing 283,000 electric cars. Infrastructure growth, backed by public and private investment, is making e-mobility increasingly accessible and positioning the country among Europe’s key players in the transition to zero-emission mobility.

After the war, Italian fashion won over foreign markets through shows created for international buyers, turning craftsmanship into a recognisable, competitive system. In 1951 in Florence, Giovanni Battista Giorgini launched the first collective presentations and, with the Sala Bianca at Palazzo Pitti, fashion shows became a lasting engine for relationships and business, strengthening Made in Italy worldwide.

The Mirandola biomedical district, in the north of the Province of Modena, is one of Europe’s leading hubs for medical technologies, with around 5,000 employees and an integrated supply chain. Strongly export-oriented, it makes a significant contribution to regional exports and continues to invest in R&D, automation and digitalisation, supported by collaborations with companies, universities and research centres.
